Happy Halloween

Well we have come to the end of half term and I have to say my house has been relatively calm. I don’t want to speak too soon, but there have been no real catastrophes. The weathers been great all but one day and this gave us chance to make our playdoh.

On Sunday we had a really wonderful day in Grassington. Rosie was in need of new wellies and having a bit of a thing for nice wellies we had a quick stop off at our favourite shop Joules in Ilkley. We arrived mid-morning and did a five mile walk along the river and through the woods, took the kids to the park and ended up in the Devonshire Hotel for well deserved local beers and and some hearty food.

We’ve been busy all week from going to Fairburn Ings feeding the ducks, to Roundhay park getting lost, and briefly loosing Tom and Maisie.

Today we put up our Halloween decorations, it was as late as I could push it. I take them back down on Sunday night when all the kids go to bed. I love Christmas decorations but don’t really get the whole decorating for Halloween thing, anyway the kids love it and it means I don’t have to clean up for three days.

The pumpkins are carved, all four of them, and the kitchen has been re-decorated in stringy pumpkin flesh and seeds, but they look great and no one lost any fingers.

So roll on Sunday when we allow our children to knock on complete strangers doors and well, beg while we stand and watch, their bags getting fuller and fuller, only to then go home and empty it all over the carpet and fight over who has the most. I do a quick selective hunt through and any thing looking like it’s seen better day’s goes in the bin and any thing covered in chocolate goes in my mouth.

So this is the end of a very busy week and next week will seem very quiet again, but I can honestly say I have really enjoyed having the kids at home this week and haven’t even been hitting my bach rescue pastilles.
